Now available on the Mac® platform, Autodesk® Smoke® 2010 software helps bring high-quality editorial finishing into creative cut workflows that are based on Avid® Media Composer® and Apple® Final Cut Pro® application programs. Smoke shares the same operating system as these creative cut applications and supports common acquisition and intermediate media formats. Smoke software’s ability to conform media and metadata via AAF and XML helps you maximize quality of your final deliverables through an integrated editorial finishing toolset. Autodesk® Smoke® 2010 software for the Mac OS® X platform helps open the door to concurrent creative workflows by placing Smoke adjacent to creative cut editorial on Apple® Final Cut Pro® and Mac®-based Avid® systems. Porting Smoke to the Mac allows you to share a common media and storage environment with workgroup editorial workflows already in place. Smoke on the Mac is able to take advantage of the formats that are available on the Mac platform including Pro Res 422 and DNxHD.

3D Compositing
The Autodesk® Smoke® Action 3D compositing environment is a key differentiator over Mac®-based creative applications.
While other Mac-based workflows requiring 3D must use third party 3D applications that are not integrated within the non-linear creative environment, Smoke offers:
• An interactive 3D design experience that combines media with 3D data in a true 3D environment
• 3D Text tools including customizable 3D text presets
• Integration of 3D text elements into 3D composites
• Ability to Import and Export popular graphics files, such as OpenEXR® image files, TGA, TIFF, SGI, DPX, PICT, and JPEG
Managed Media from Start to Finish
With a dedicated managed media workflow, tasks that can be challenging in non-linear editing applications – like moving projects between workstations, maintaining links to rendered files and archiving – are already part of the proven Smoke media workflow.
With Autodesk® Smoke® 2010 software features you can use:
• Built-in media management tools to help build a reliable and efficient pipeline
• Project archiving for backup of selected clips, libraries, or the entire project in a single operation
And…
• Setups can be archived together with the media
• Archives may be stored as files (on networked drives or external USB or FireWire® serial bus drives), on data tapes: LTO, DLT, and DTF
