What’s New in Autodesk Flame 2009
Autodesk® Flame® 2009 systems software features significant functionality, performance, and interoperability enhancements, including new creative capabilities, improvements to 3D tracking, timeline and Batch workflow enhancements, extended format support, and new productivity tools:
New Creative Tools in Flame 2009
New creative Batch nodes enhance the overall creative toolset and reduce the need for third-party plug-ins.
Improved 3D compositing capabilities with the ability to import GMask geometries into Action and extrude them to create 3D objects. This powerful new creative tool can create the illusion of depth that will really sell 3D composites.
New auto-stabilization node in Batch to automatically counteract shakes and bumps in a camera’s motion.
Improved 3D tracking capabilities solve camera motion issues, even in problematic shots. Artists can view the results of the 3D track (point cloud) inside of Action, making it easier to identify the correct anchor position.
Pre- or post-segment compositing; Batch navigation view: open workflow between timeline and effects through the multilayer timeline; improvements to Batch Paint; open splines in Distort and high-quality resizing with Lanczos filtering, which preserves sharp edges and image detail for a cleaner image.
Expanded Format Support in Flame 2009
Expanded format support for Panasonic® P2 MXF files.
Soft import workflow for streaming media files provides artists with added flexibility to conform and assemble a timeline using SD or HD QuickTime® media files from other nonlinear editing applications, including Apple® Final Cut Pro® software.
Expanded codec support in QuickTime (DV, DV25, and DV50) increases the flexibility of reusing existing media without unnecessary duplication.
Create, save, and load codec profiles to quickly set up and launch encoding jobs for exporting QuickTime files for web download.
New audio formats with the capability to import and export Broadcast Wave and MP3 files.
Workflow and Productivity Enhancements in Flame 2009
Enhancements to the multilayer, multitrack timeline that is 100 percent compatible with the timeline in Autodesk® Smoke® software, supporting the complete set of Smoke soft effects. Now artists can access the multilayer timeline in order to make editorial changes directly from the Flame player or Batch timeline.
Extended OpenEXR® workflow for compositing high dynamic range (HDR) files directly in Action—ideally suited for compositing CG elements from applications like Autodesk® Maya® or Autodesk® Toxik™ software.
Autodesk® WiretapCentral™ software enables browsing of Autodesk systems’ clip libraries using a network-connected web browser for faster reviews and approvals.
Autodesk® SystemCentral technology provides centralized diagnostic tools in a web-based application that simplifies the process of running diagnostic tests on Flame, providing OS information, hardware inventory, disk performance, and more.
